Bridal Consultation Prep

Just a few important things to think about to help us create a look that you will LOVE for your special day

See the full guide

Trials are really important, they are done to make sure you and your artist are on the same page and have created a look together.

That way come your wedding day, you are relaxed and already know what to expect !

We typically recommend coming in for a trial 1-2 months before the wedding that way the look is fresh in our minds.

We also recommend saving a few inspiration pictures to bring to show your artist of what you are looking for.

We recommend you coming with a white top and hair either straightened or curled.

In terms of skincare before your makeup application appointment, please exfoliate twice a week and tone/moisturize daily before your appointment.

Before your Appointment

  • Be sure to arrive to your appointment with your hair clean , dry and smooth. Do this at least one day in advance.
  • Special instructions will be made communicated to you (where applicable) before your bridal trials.

Before your Event

  • Please wash and blow-dry your hair at least 1 day before the event.  This will ensure there is absolutely no moisture in the hair allowing for the longest lasting styles (and no frizz, yay!)
*Please be conscious of using any heat (other than a blow dryer) on your hair before the event. Trying to curl hair that has been flat ironed is difficult and causes curls to loosen quite quickly.

Pre Treatment

  • Exfoliate
Using a sulfate-free scrub or exfoliating gloves, exfoliate your entire body 24 hours prior to your tan. It is not recommended to exfoliate the day of your tan, as your skin needs to rebuild its natural oils to achieve the best results.
  • Moisturize
Be sure to shower off your lotion prior to your tan.
  • Beauty Prep
All hair removal, including waxing, shaving & threading should be done 24 hours prior to your appointment. Shaving (gently) is okay 24 hours post-tan. Have mani's, pedi's, hair appointments and lash appointments scheduled before your tan.
  • Day-Of Prep
You will want to have no makeup, lotion or deodorant on your skin prior to the tan. Products on the skin can create a barrier to the tan, giving an uneven result. Wear dark loose fitting clothing and have your hair tied up and away from your face.

Maintaining Your Tan

  • Do not shower or sweat for at least 8 hours following your appointment.
  • Rinse 8 hours after your appointment
  • Moisturize using a paraben-free lotion daily. Keeping moisturized will ensure an even, flawless fade. You can purchase one from our beauty lounge!
  • Do not use any soaps with ‘SLS’ in it.
  • Avoid long hot baths and showers as these speed up exfoliation.
  • Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower. Rubbing your skin may rub off your tan.
  • Avoid swimming pools and salt water, as these can reduce your tan.

Keep the waxed area clean, and avoid heat and friction during the next 24 to 48 hours.

This means :

  • No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only)
  • No saunas, hot tubs, massage or steam treatments
  • No tanning (sunbathing, sun beds or fake tans)
  • No sport, gym work or other exercise
  • Avoid scratching or touching the treated area with unwashed hands
  • Wear clean, loose fitting clothes
  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated pools
  • Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area
  • Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area
  • To soothe and protect the skin, apply an antiseptic cream to the waxed area regularly for 3 days following your treatment. Always wash your hands before applying any product.
  • To soothe and protect the skin, apply an antiseptic cream to the waxed area regularly for 3 days following your treatment. Always wash your hands before applying any product.

Moisturize every day to keep the skin supple and help new hairs to grow through normally. Don’t exfoliate too much or too rough as this can graze the skin and cause ingrown hairs.

You may notice a small amount of re growth after a week or so.
It can take up to 4 treatments for your hair to get on a growth cycle that gives best results.

You will need at least 3-4 weeks growth of hair before it can be successfully removed by waxing.

Please do not shave between your appointments.

To maintain your smooth appearance, we recommend regular waxing every 4 - 6 weeks.

* Please note: some slight soreness, small bumps and redness are common and perfectly normal temporary reactions, particularly if this is your first wax. These symptoms should subside over the next 24 - 48 hours. If you experience persistent redness or irritation, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Before your appointment

  • Don’t apply any hand cream or other products one day before your appointment.
  • If you have old gel/acrylic on your nails, it is not ideal for you to remove it yourself. Removing old nails and getting new ones in one appointment is the safest way to go.

Things to consider

  • Please note that some hormonal medications can affect the final result. If you've changed your medication recently, please reschedule your appointment to at least 2 weeks after the change.
  • If you are experiencing any discomfort/pain or yellow/green nail discolouration please visit a dermatologist. If you still come in for your appointment, we won’t be able to do your nails for health and safety reasons.

 FAQ's

Useful things to know

Here are answers to some of the common questions you might have

See the full list of FAQ's

How does a lesson typically work?

The way our lessons work is that we first access your current makeup bag. We go through your makeup, skin care products and brushes. After that we dive into our hands on lesson, we teach you on one side of your face and do the other side of your face!

During the lesson and after we go through everything again by writing and drawing the face chart so you can bring home with you and remember everything from the lesson.

Do I use my own makeup during the lesson?

You will be using our products during the lesson but we do teach you how to use the stuff that you have.

How does a makeup lesson work with a group?

We ask that you bring your makeup bag: makeup, skin care products and brushes. We go through an assessment at the beginning of the lesson. Your artist will do a demo of the look that you want to learn and then you will then be asked to do it on yourself.

Your artist will be walking around and making sure that you are doing it correctly. During the lesson you will have a face chart and time to fill out information learnt from the lesson.

How does a makeup lesson work with an industry professional?

We ask that you bring in your own makeup kit. Your artist will access what you have and what you need to add to your kit. We will provide you with a model to work on.
